Woodchucks Lose Season Series 8-4 to Rafters

WAUSAU, Wis. – Wausau was not able to win a third game this weekend against Wisconsin Rapids Sunday at Athletic Park, losing 7-6 in 10 innings.

After the game was tied at three each into extras, the Rafters (37-28/17-13) would score four off only one hit, with walks and hit by pitches being the trojan horse.

A comeback attempt by Wausau (12-19/32-24) fell just short, as they would score three in the 10th, but a groundout would end the game with the tying run at third base.

Key Moments:

Trent Van Ess (UW-Stevens Point) had a three hit day, hitting his second home run and double of the season with each resulting in an RBI.

The Woodchucks pitching staff had an up and down day, as they only allowed six hits in the first nine innings and left five Rafters runners on base in the eighth and ninth. But in the tenth, they would allow four runs off only one hit but five walks/hit by pitch. Wausau would allow a combined 10 walks and hit by pitches.
