The bats were booming just as much as the fireworks as the Woodchucks exploded for a 9-3 win.
Wausau jumped out early with back to back pass ball home plate steals by Ike Mezzenga (North Iowa Area CC) and Tre Honduras (John A Logan CC) to go up 2-0 in the 1st.
Camden Janik (University of Illinois) joined the Woodchucks yesterday and today made an impact in the batter’s box and behind the plate for the Chucks
The Chucks took an inning break before putting 2 more runs on the board again by way of stealing home.
With bases loaded Ernesto Lugo-Canchola (Salt Lake CC) was in some trouble and a passed ball gave the rockers a run but then came right back and struck the next batter out, stopping it at 1 run.
The Chucks had people in position to score but after a Dean Bittner (Mesa CC) pickle between third and home ended in an out but the chucks were able to keep runners on second and third but could not get anything out of the 5th
In his second appearance for the Chucks Purser got into a little trouble but was able to get out of it safely.
In the bottom of the 6th Norris Mcclure (Spring Hill College) hits the Woodchucks first homerun of the season over the right field wall to stretch the lead out to 5-1.
Rockers got a little help in the 8th scoring on a sac fly and a single driving in two runs to bring them within 3 of the Woodchucks.
McClure’s bunt in the 8th leads to bases loaded and no outs the rockers dug into their bullpen and got Calvin Hunt but still Helfgot drove in the first run of the inning then Dean Bittner flew out scoring 2 more runs extending the lead to 9-3.
The bats for the Woodchucks were rockin ‘and rollin’ all night long as they defeated the Green Bay Rockers.
