WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (OnFocus) – The 56th Annual Wisconsin State Water Ski Show Championships will take place July 21- 24, 2022 at Red Sands Beach, Lake Wazeecha in Wisconsin Rapids.

The Wisconsin State Water Ski Show Championships is the largest and longest running
water ski show tournament in the world. The Wisconsin Rapids Aqua Skiers have been the humble hosts since the tournament’s inception. The tournament is a full four days long and features 24 of Wisconsin’s best water ski show teams and 72 individual competitors all vying for a State Title and chance to qualify for the National Water Ski Show Championships.

Teams are given one hour to put on their best theme performance for the thousands of spectators. During that hour spectators watch human pyramids, barefooters, skiers going over the jump, swivel skiers, and stage entertainment, all in flashy costumes! The individual act competition includes swivel, pairs swivel, freestyle jumping, team jumping, and doubles. Individual routines are limited to five minutes.

The tournament has grown tremendously over the years and now features concessions,
beer garden, various vendors, and tournament apparel. The Wisconsin Rapids Aqua Skiers, an all volunteer organization, organize all aspects of the tournament and the members take great pride in hosting. “Our members look forward to hosting and competing in the tournament every summer,” stated tournament committee member Jordan Moon.

“It is incredibly rewarding to see thousands of people not only come to Lake Wazeecha for the tournament but to the Wisconsin Rapids community. The amount of revenue our local businesses owners receive throughout the weekend is incredible!” stated Moon.

Every year the tournament fills all hotels in the Wisconsin Rapids and Plover area for the extended weekend and brings in over $3.7 million dollars of revenue to the area. This year, the tournament is going to be larger than ever with the addition of swivel pairs and a barefoot figure 8 competition on Thursday. The tournament committee is expecting the addition of these two events will bring in even more revenue to the local community. 2022 also marks the 100th anniversary of the invention of water skiing.

Tournament director, Maggie Muleski, and her committee are planning to celebrate this achievement at the tournament by hosting a Oldest Tournament T-Shirt Contest. Spectators and Skiers are encouraged to wear their oldest tournament t-shirts for a chance to win a custom Wisconsin State Water Ski Show Championships prize package.

The Wisconsin State Water Ski Show Championships is an annual show water ski competition hosted by the Wisconsin Rapids Aqua Skiers Show Team every third full weekend in July at Red Sands Beach, Lake Wazeecha in Wisconsin Rapids. The tournament is sanctioned by USA Water Ski and the Wisconsin Water Ski Federation.

Official tournament sponsors include Galles Marine, Ho Chunk Gaming Nekoosa, Plainfield Trucking, Wisconsin River Orthopedics, Mark Toyota of Plover, General Beer, Wisconsin Rapids Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, CC Graphics, Sto-Cor, Current Technology, Cook Family Chiropractic, MSC Boat Lifts and Docks, Solarus, and NRG Media.
