MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – The Marshfield Police Department is now taking applications for its Citizens Police Academy program. They will hold classes on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM, beginning March 29, 2023, for eight (8) consecutive weeks ending on May 17, 2023.
The goals of the Citizens Police Academy:
- Provide citizens with a working knowledge of law enforcement operations, including support staff.
- To strengthen law enforcement/community relations.
- To obtain valued feedback from the community through citizen participation.
- To increase citizen knowledge about police functions and enhance employee instructor training
The above objectives are met using hands-on interactive experiences in areas such as crime scene investigations; SWAT tactics; utilization of police department firearms at the police range; use of force decision-making; and observing firsthand how the K-9 unit performs its duties.
